Adopt A Chihuahua
Adopt a Chihuahua
Whether or not you have other dogs or this is your first, adopting a chihuahua is going to be quite an experience you won’t soon forget. Chihuahuas are very special in respect to the animal kingdom. Firstly, they are the world’s smallest dog breed. This comes with both advantages and disadvantages. It is no secret that chihuahuas think they are much tougher than they truly are. You don’t have to look far to see just how brave these miniature canines can be. Although it’s cute at times to see them defend their owners and protect what is theirs, it can lead them into trouble as well. If you have a larger dog at home, don’t be surprised to see your chihuahua trying to act like he’s “top dog”. Another consideration when choosing a chihuahua is that they are prone to getting into more accidents than larger dogs. Their small size tends to make them a little, shall we say…delicate?
If you want to adopt a chihuahua, first decide what kind you’d like: a puppy or an adult? A puppy offers you a blank slate to mold into that perfect dog you’ve been wanting. An adult comes with set ways and sometimes is very difficult to change. This doesn’t mean they aren’t a wise choice. Adult chihuahuas can still be great companions since they may be potty trained already.
If you adopt a chihuahua, you are adopting a life long companion (the dog’s life, not yours since they only live between 15 and 23 years of age). Please do not adopt a dog if you know you’re not going to be able to give it the love it deserves.
I absolutely love Chihuahua’s. They are just too cute. I didn’t know they live up to 23yrs old. That is great.
I am planning on adopting one in a few years after we retire from the Army.
BTW–I love you blog, the best one I’ve seen in a while. Great layout
